Will there ever be use for them?
Can I grab a Commando and throw it at the enemy?

I want to put a 3rd double heatsink in my arm, damn it.

Its a way to F over mechs with hands: no melee but give up the crit slots.

It bugs me too that we can't remove things like that. Clearly they serve no purpose but to take up space at this point.

How awesome would it be for mechs with hands to be able to climb stuff?

I wanna go all King Kong with an Atlas in one of the cities.

Its part of Battletech Canon even if you cant use them in the game.

Why PGI cares about this part of canon but nothing else though is beyond me.

I remember reading somewhere that the more arm actuators a mech has, the faster it will be able to stand up after getting knocked down. I don't remember where that was (might have just been a rumor), but it seemed like a good idea.

TT You could remove hand and arm actuators so you could fit bigger ACs in your arms. Apparently we are not trusted to be able to do this.

Maybe they'll add melee attacks at some point? Not sure if I'd like that.

We have hand actuators for when all weapons are rendered useless. We can still use Ro-Sham-Bo.

I've always liked the idea of using the Atlas' hands to pick up a Commando or similarly small Mech then either throw them for quick scouting, a massive 'dumb' round or holding them like a shield.

especially when the devs have said there wont ever be melee combat. I think this is a case of "cause its in TT" which is a funny argument with all the other things theyve thrown out the window lately

Didn't the PC Gamer interview say melee was something they were looking to, if only for the Solaris expansion?

They are "looking into it" which is sufficed to say: we have more important things to do first.

Because mechs with hands are supposed be able to pick things up. You should be able to pick up trees and use them as clubs. Some mechs have axes and swords. Plus you could punch. Right now they just take up a crit slot. It all comes from the TT games.

WE KNOW.

But they're completely pointless in MWO and just waste space, better to remove them instead of pointlessly screwing over some mechs with crit slots they can't use for anything because they're taken up by useless hands. .

I'd love to be able to pick up objects on the battlefield and throw them at enemy battlemechs, that would be one outrageous animation!
